The John L. Hennessy
awards are presented
to the Air Force
installations, in single and
multiple facility categories, having the best food service program in
the United States Air Force.
Special recognition is also given to the outstanding overall
food service program for the Air National Guard (ANG) and the Air Force
Reserves (AFRS). Each year, SFM
is privileged to have the opportunity to send a representative to
participate in these on-site evaluations. These evaluating teams
determine the winners and are comprised of members from the Society for
Foodservice Management (SFM), the National Restaurant Association
(NRA), the International Food Service Executives Association (IFSEA)
and the Headquarters United States Air Force Food Service staff. The
Hennessy Program also allows the sharing of valuable information
between the sponsoring association’s travelers, recognized leaders in
the civilian foodservice industry, and base-level food service
personnel.
Rob Geile, Hobart Consulting
Services, will join the team this year as the Hennessy Traveler for
SFM. He will be traveling for six weeks to Air Force installations in
every part of the world to determine winners of the prestigious and
historic Hennessy trophies. Rob
actively participates in numerous capacities with a number of industry
associations, such as the Society of Foodservice Management (SFM), the
Association for Healthcare Foodservice (formerly ASHFSA and HFM), and
the School Nutrition Association (SNA).
In addition, he has been a guest presenter and/or panelist at
both regional and national conferences, as well as, a guest speaker at
several university classes.
Rob currently
holds board member status for Foodservice Consultants Society
International-The Americas (FCSI-TA), FCSI-World Wide, Dietary Managers
Association (DMA) and the Midwest Region of the National Association of
Colleges and Universities (NACUFS).
Rob has a CFSP
Level I certification, and recently became a LEED Accredited Professional,
and has since participated in the LEED certification process of several
buildings.
As a three
sport athlete in high school, with scholarship offers in football,
basketball and baseball, Rob Geile chose
baseball and attended Central Missouri State University. Ironically, Rob was recruited by the
Air Force Academy in Colorado.
After a few unsuccessful tryouts with major league baseball
teams, Rob began his work career at his father’s custom foodservice
equipment manufacturing company just outside St. Louis, MO area.
Rob resides in
Missouri with his wife Debbie, their two children and their
nephew. He still enjoys actively
participating in a variety of athletics and has recently completed
several half marathons.
